Aurora police were searching for a couple suspected of a stealing a puppy worth more than $7,600 from a pet store, police said in a news release on Monday.
On Sunday, police were called to the Furry Babies store at Fox Valley Mall about an English Bulldog that had been stolen. Store employees told police the puppy was worth more than $7,600.
The suspects reportedly used a fake ID online to adopt the puppy, and then visited the dog in the store, investigators revealed. The suspects went to the store with their young baby, and also reportedly gave false information there.
They eventually took off with the dog, police said.
