The Illinois State Board of Elections held its lottery to determine the order in which candidates will appear on the March primary ballot.
In total, eight candidates will be competing in a crowded field, as Democrats vie for the chance to replace Attorney General Lisa Madigan, who will leave office at the end of her current term.
Former Governor Pat Quinn, who joined the race shortly after Madigan announced that she would not seek re-election, will occupy the top spot on the ballot in March’s primary. Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti will be in the second spot, and Scott Drury, who dropped his gubernatorial campaign to run for Attorney General, will be third.
