Lake Co. on Alert After Teen Abduction Attempt

17-year-old girl ignored, then ran from would-be abductor

An alert has gone out in suburban Lake County after a 17-year-old girl was approached by a man who apparently intended to abduct her.

The girl was walking to Stevenson High School in unincorporated Lincolnshire when a man in medium-sized white four-door car drove along side her and asked if she was on her way to school.

The teen ignored the man, but he persisted, asking if she wanted a ride to school.

Still, she ignored him, and the man demanded that she get into the car. He repeated the demand three times, growing more aggressive with each demand, according to the girl.

As soon as she was able, the girl rushed to her own car, which was parked in the area, and locked the doors. The man then drove off in an unknown direction.

The victim told a Lake County Sheriff that the offender was a white man in his 50s, with gray hair and bright blue eyes. He spoke with a thick Russian or Eastern European accent.
