A 74-year-old who has spent much of his life involved with organized crime received another sentence Thursday.
Arthur Rachel was sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He was convicted on charges of racketeering and involvement in several planned robberies in January.
He is best known for helping to steal the 45-carat Marlborough Diamond from a London Jewelry store in 1980.
Rachel was asked Thursday why he committed himself to a life of crime.
"We got nothing better to do," he told the judge, according to the Sun-Times.
