Arrest Made in Murder of Chicago Cab Driver

Blue Island police have arrested a suspect in the death of a Chicago cab driver whose body was found in a vehicle on Christmas Eve.

According to a statement, 26-year-old Francisco Ojeda was arrested on Dec. 26 and has been charged with first degree murder in connection to the death of 54-year-old Ismail Abdulle.

According to the statement, Ojeda requested a ride to the LaSalle Street Metra station on Christmas Eve, and when Abdulle requested payment, he was brutally assaulted inside of his cab.

Police say that Ojeda then drove Abdulle's taxi to Blue Island, leaving the cab and the driver's body inside of the vehicle.

Abdulle lived in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

An autopsy Monday found he died of multiple injuries in an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The Blue Island Detective Division and South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force handled the investigation into Abdulle's murder.
