Arlington Heights Police Investigate Nearly 40 Acts of BB Gun Vandalism

Arlington Heights Police are asking residents for help as they investigate nearly 40 incidents of vandalism involving a BB gun—some of which were caught on surveillance video.

Police released video last week that may show the car involved in one of the shooting incidents: a white vehicle in the 2400 block of North Evergreen Avenue in the northwest suburb. In another incident, a security camera captured the sound of BBs piercing the glass windows, denting the trim and flaking off the paint of a home.

Arlington Heights Police say there have been dozens of attacks since mid-November—most of them targeting cars on residential streets. Mike McGrath, who said he lives in the area, says most of his neighbors on Douglas Street have been victims of the damage.

“It was a lot bigger thing than just the house,” he told NBC 5. “It was eight or 10 all the way up the street, because I know most of the people on the block, and they all had the Gerber out here.”

Police say they are still searching for suspects.
