Anton Forsberg Injured, Collin Delia Recalled by Chicago Blackhawks

Delia posted a 3.96 GAA in two starts last season

The Chicago Blackhawks haven’t even started their first game of the regular season yet, but they’re already dealing with an injury as they prepare to play the Ottawa Senators.

In the team’s morning skate Thursday before the big contest, goaltender Anton Forsberg took a high shot, and had to be removed from the workout. Forsberg, set to back-up Cam Ward in net for the Blackhawks Thursday night, will be unavailable for the team, forcing them to recall goaltender Collin Delia from Rockford.

Delia played in two games for the Blackhawks last season, sporting a 3.96 goals against average and a 1-1-0 record.

The Blackhawks are also without regular starting goaltender Corey Crawford, who is still working his way back from a concussion that ended his 2017-18 season. Head coach Joel Quenneville has said that he believes Crawford could be ready by mid-October, but did not put a definitive timetable on the netminder’s return.

Ward will be in net for Chicago when the puck drops at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night against the Senators.
