Andrew Shaw Will Not Play in Game 2 vs. Kings

The Hawks forward will miss his seventh straight game as the Hawks look to take a 2-0 series lead

The Chicago Blackhawks have been very cautious with Andrew Shaw after he sustained a lower body injury while playing against the Minnesota Wild in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and that caution was displayed again on Wednesday.

After the team concluded its morning skate, Shaw announced that he will not be suiting up for the Blackhawks as they take on the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final.

Following Tuesday's practice, Shaw expressed a desire to play and said that he felt ready to be back on the ice, but conceded that it ultimately wasn't his decision.

Head coach Joel Quenneville has made plenty of adjustments to his strategy in recent weeks with Shaw out of the lineup, shuffling around power play personnel and trying a variety of guys at the center position. Peter Regin has had arguably the most success out of the group, with the Blackhawks winning all three games where he's been in the lineup.

Odds are that Shaw will not only travel with the team for Game 3 of the series, set for Saturday night in Los Angeles, but he'll likely be on the ice after getting a few more days of practice under his belt.

For now though, Shaw will be watching Game 2 from the pressbox. That contest is slated to drop the puck at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and can be seen on NBCSN.
