Amtrak Train to Chicago Partially Derails Near St. Louis

Charter buses used to transport passengers to Chicago

Chartered buses were being used Thursday to transport more than 100 passengers to Chicago after the Amtrak train they were on partially came off the tracks near St. Louis.

One set of wheels on train 302 of Amtrak's Lincoln Service came off the rail when the train was crossing from track to track, according to Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari.

The train remained with power on tracks that are owned by Union Pacific Railroad and the Kansas City Southern Railway Company.

There were no injuries to the 106 passengers or the four crew members on board, Magliari said.

The rail agency has been beset with a number of customer-facing issues in the last several days in the wake of winter weather that dropped snow and brought sub-zero temperatures.
