American Airlines is cutting service to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, but the airline insists the reduction has nothing to do with its recent filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
American cut back on the number of seats available on 44 routes nationwide from December through February.
O'Hare is impacted by 11 of those routes, reported the Chicago Tribune.
But a spokeswoman for American told the newspaper the cuts have more to do with pilot retirements, low traffic volume during the winter and jet fuel prices.
American Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Nov. 29, citing the need to reduce costs and remain competitive.
