A 9-year-old boy who was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert in Indiana was found safe Thursday morning, hours after he went missing, authorities confirmed.
Indiana State Police issued the alert at 5:19 a.m. at the request of the St. Joseph County Police Department, authorities said.
The alert was for John D. Gyuriak, a 9-year-old boy who was last seen at around 11 p.m. Wednesday in South Bend, Indiana, officials said.
He was believed to be with 29-year-old Areca Nicole Gyuriak.
The St. Joseph County Police Department confirmed both the child and Gyuriak were found safe just after 8 a.m. An investigation remained ongoing, authorities said.
