Amber Alert Canceled in Indiana After 3 Children Reported Missing From Michigan

An Amber Alert was canceled in Indiana a little more than an hour after it was issued early Thursday for three young children reported missing and believed to be "in extreme danger."

Details on what happened weren't immediately released. The alert was canceled just before 8:30 a.m.

Indiana State Police issued the alert at 6:50 a.m. CST on behalf of the Sturgis Police Department in Sturgis, Michigan, hours after an Amber Alert was issued for the children in Michgan.

The alert was for three children: 4-year-old boy Matteo Nieves, 5-year-old girl Chelsey Lopez and 2-year-old boy Aldo Cruz, according to police, who said all three were last seen on Wednesday.

Authorities said Matteo was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and red shorts. Chelsey was last seen in a pink T-shirt and blue pajama pants, officials said, and Aldo was in a blue T-shirt and a diaper.

Police said the suspect was 37-year-old Fernando Cruz, who stands at 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Cruz drives a black 2009 Chevy Traverse with the Michigan license plate DWH9204, according to police.
