Amazon Reportedly Visited Chicago Site Being Considered for HQ2

Amazon officials are expected to decide later this year where their second headquarters will be located, and apparently they gave the city of Chicago a second look.

According to the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times, Amazon officials toured Related Midwest’s proposed site in the South Loop in mid-August as they search for the location of HQ2.

The site, known as The 78, is a proposed development that will incorporate a riverfront location with a variety of shops and businesses, and is bordered by Clark Street, Roosevelt Road, 16th Street, and the Chicago River, according to the project’s website.

Numerous Chicago locations were proposed for HQ2, which is expected to bring 50,000 new jobs and $5 billion in new revenues to the area. They are competing with a group of 19 other finalists, including Atlanta, Austin, and Dallas.

A final date for Amazon’s announcement has yet to be revealed.
