Aldi shoppers will soon have a boatload of new fresh food options at stores thanks to an ambitious $5 billion investment project by the grocery chain.

The company is looking to expand by approximately 700 stores thanks to the new investment, and is boosting its selection of fresh foods and ready-to-eat products by up to 40 percent, according to a press release.

The investment will bring the total number of Aldi locations to approximately 2,500, the company says.
