Aldi Announces New Products, Plan to Expand Company by 700 Stores

Aldi shoppers will soon have a boatload of new fresh food options at stores thanks to an ambitious $5 billion investment project by the grocery chain.

The company is looking to expand by approximately 700 stores thanks to the new investment, and is boosting its selection of fresh foods and ready-to-eat products by up to 40 percent, according to a press release.

The investment will bring the total number of Aldi locations to approximately 2,500, the company says.

The new grocery items will include more organic and ready-to-cook fresh meats, including organic chicken. There will also be more produce options available, including ready-to-eat sliced fruits and more vegan and vegetarian options, including kale and quinoa crunch burgers.

Single-serve items such as organic hummus, fruit and vegetable snack packs, and fresh organic salsas and salads will be available in stores. Organic almond milk, coconut milk, and lactose-free items will be making their way into stores.

Even the store’s bakeries will be getting a makeover, as whole wheat and white pita breads, sourdough loaves, and gluten-free bagels will be among the new offerings.
