Charges Filed in Fatal Aldi Shooting

Develt Bradford charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery in connection with Nov. 10 incident that left security guard dead, woman injured

One of two men accused in last week’s robbery of a South Side Aldi store that left a security guard dead and a customer injured was charged Wednesday night with first-degree murder.

Develt Bradford, 52, of the 5300 block of South Damen Avenue, is charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton.

A security guard at the store was killed and another woman injured when she tried to get away from the robbers during the Nov. 10 incident.

Bradford was also charged with two counts of armed robbery for another holdup at the Aldi at 47th Street and Ashland Avenue on Oct. 28.

Bradford will appear for a bond hearing on Thursday, she said.

Another robber remains at large, authorities said.

Surveillance cameras from the Aldi store recorded these two men walking in to the store shortly before the robbery.
