An ice cream truck, playing a typical ice cream truck melody, rallied the neighborhood kids out to buy a bar or two, then moved up the block, changed the tune playing from the truck, and began catering to grown men who emerged from local houses and exchanged money for something -- something that Alderman Lona Lane (18th) was convinced was not ice cream. She is sure she witnessed drug deal after drug deal.
Rather than call the police, Lane opted to take her fight to the CIty Council.
"No need to call in the heat, I guess. A blanket ban should do the trick," wrote the Readers' Mike Sula.
