Authorities continue investigating a crash Monday involving a small fixed wing plane along Interstate 88 in southwestern Kane County.
Illinois State Police District 15 said it was responding to the scene along the interstate near mile marker 102, west of Route 47, where a pilot reported engine issues shortly after taking off from Waukegan airport enroute to Aurora.
Officials later released a statement saying the pilot "attempted an emergency landing on Interstate 88 westbound...the small plane's wing clipped a Gray GMC Canyon before coming to rest in the center median grassy area."
Authorities said the pilot sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the gray GMC was not injured, police confirmed, and the vehicle suffered minor damage.
The left lane of the roadway was being blocked at the scene and traffic backups were reported.
No other details were immediately known.
