Brookfield Zoo has an adorable new addition as a baby Humboldt penguin was born at the institution last month.
The penguin, who hatched on Feb. 12, is being closely monitored by veterinarians, and he could potentially become the zoo’s newest animal ambassador in the Penguin Encounters area.
The chick will shed his down feathers and will molt into his juvenile plumage sometime next month, according to the zoo. He won’t get his distinctive adult plumage until he is about two years old.
For visitors looking to meet the penguins at Brookfield Zoo, tickets cost $40 per person, and space is limited to the first 20 visitors, the zoo says.
