A Yorkville man has been arrested Wednesday and charged with felony theft after confessing to stealing $1,300 worth of silverware.
Jason E. Gilich, 20, of the 400 block of McHugh Road turned himself in after admitting to being at a house party where he stole the silverware, Kendall County Sheriff's Office said.
Sheriffs responded to the residence of the house party at 9 p.m. April 8 in the 100 block of Winding Creek Road in Yorkville. The homeowner's son admitted to having a party at the residence while his parents were out of town, detectives said.
After confessing to the theft, Gilich told authorities he took the silverware to a local business that bought it and melted it down.
Gilich had already been arrested for breaking into a home and stealing jewelry the same night he took the silverware, authorities said. Gilich said he left the house party and went to a residence on the same street where he committed the second burglary.
