Wrigleyville Rooftop Tickets See Massive Price Hike

The Chicago Cubs have already announced sizable ticket price increases inside of Wrigley Field for the 2017 season, but if you were hoping to get a value on rooftop tickets around the ballpark to avoid cost hikes, it would appear that you’re out of luck.

The Cubs, who own 11 of the rooftops around Wrigley Field, announced Thursday that they will be increasing prices for those buildings by an average of 19 percent for the 2017 season. A presale was underway Thursday for those seats, with the cheapest tickets now costing $73 apiece, as opposed to $65 a year ago.

Those prices are listed for group rates, with fans having to buy a minimum of 15 tickets in order to take advantage of the presale.

The ticket price increases come a season after the Cubs won their first World Series championship in 108 years, and as a result the demand for seats is exploding. According to Tim Isherwood, Director of Sales for the Cubs, tickets are selling even more quickly than they did in 2015 despite the increased price, and that waiting lists for seats have doubled already.

For fans looking to buy individual rooftop seats, you are still able to for next season. Individual tickets will go on sale Dec. 21, so you’ll be able to snag them before Christmas.
