Wrigleyville Residents Warned of Security Restrictions Ahead of NLCS Games

Wrigleyville residents are being warned: Security around Wrigley Field next week will be airtight.

The Cubs will take on the Mets in Game 3 of the NLCS at Wrigley Field Tuesday and Ald. Tom Tunney put out a notice to residents alerting them to the official rules during the upcoming games.

Among the rules are restrictions for bar owners, who can only serve drinks in plastic cups and a parking ban along Racine, Sheffield and Addison. Police will again use crowd control tactics outside the venue and will work with private security after games. Extra paramedics will also be on standby.

While the parking restrictions can be inconvenient for some, many residents know that the commotion is part of living near the ballpark.

“My wife and I live up on Grace and everything’s been going great,” said resident Will Shepherd. “The authorities have been doing a great job, and keeping it muted, especially up in the neighborhoods.”

Chicago remains in the national spotlight during the Cubs' postseason and officials said they're not taking any chances when it comes to public safety. They recommend using a ride-sharing service, biking or taking public transportation to get to the games.
