Woman Recounts Being Stabbed More Than 50 Times in Brighton Park Assault

"I kept trying to grab my purse and hit him over the head," she said.

Victoria Rutkowski says the man who attacked her messed with the wrong person.

"I just kept fighting and fighting," she told NBC 5.

Rutkowski, 24, says she’s one tough cookie.

That toughness kicked in Tuesday night when she went out for a quick walk.

She decided to take a short cut through an alley in the 3000 block of West 36th Street to get back to her Brighton Park home when she noticed someone behind her.

The man suddenly grabbed her from behind and starting dragging her, she said.

"I said take my phone and wallet, purse I don't care," she said. "I am thinking he's robbing me."

Shes says the man tried to rip off her scarf and unzip her jacket all the while she kept fighting back.

"I kept trying to grab my purse and hit him over the head," she said.

Rutkowski says the man eventually ran off. That’s when she noticed blood coming from her back and legs. She was stabbed more than 50 times during the encounter.

"I still have some pain," she said. "It's only two nights ago."

She shared her story on Facebook and says she wants to be honest with others about what happened to her.

"I want women to be safe and aware of their surroundings," she said.

Police have no one in custody for the attack and they have not issued a community alert.
