A man was taken into custody and a woman was taken to a hospital after a traffic stop on the Stevenson Expressway following a possible assault from southwest suburban Dwight.
The woman made an emergency call at 1:26 a.m. from a car driven by a man northbound on I-55 from Dwight, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Dominick Falcone. Initial reports indicated that the woman might have been abducted or assaulted.
Troopers eventually pulled the car over at 1:48 a.m. on I-55 north of Harlem in southwest suburban Forest View, Falcone said. The man was taken into custody for questioning and the woman was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn.
A trooper with Illinois State Police District 5, which is leading the investigation, said no abduction had taken place, but could not immediately provide further details about the incident. The investigation was ongoing Tuesday morning.
