Possible Intoxicated Driver Hits, Kills Woman on Chicago's Southwest Side

A 47-year-old woman was fatally hit by a car while walking with a group of friends Sunday morning on the Southwest Side, Chicago police said.

Authorities said the woman was at a crosswalk in the 5100 block of South Archer Avenue when a 38-year-old man driving a gray 2007 Chrysler 300 crashed into her around 3:20 a.m.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Officials said driver was taken into custody, they believe the driver was intoxicated while driving.

The investigation was ongoing.
