Attacker Assaults Woman, Steals Engagement Ring

The man sexually assaulted the woman, police said, and instead of cash took her engagement ring off her finger

Chicago Police are searching for a man who broke into a woman's Near West Side home Sunday morning and sexually assaulted her at knife-point.

Police said the man, described as being in his mid- to late teens, wore a multicolored mask and tied the woman up around 6:50 a.m. in her home on the 2700 block of West Adams. When police arrived they found the woman sobbing with the door open.

The suspect went through her wallet, police said, but didn't take any cash.

Instead the man took the engagement ring off the woman's finger and ran away.

The woman later told police the attacker's voice sounded childish. She said he wore dirty gloves or mittens during the assault.
