Woman Arrested For $2.1M in Heroin

The bust is said to be the largest heroin seizure in the history of Kane County

An El Paso, Texas, woman was arrested after a traffic stop Monday in Elgin for transporting $2.1 million worth of heroin.

Claudia Chagoya, 42, a citizen of Mexico, was stopped by a Kane County sheriff's deputy after failing to use her turn signal, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Chagoya did not have a valid driver's license, and during further investigation of the vehicle, the deputy located a hidden compartment. Police searched the compartment and found more than 15 pounds of heroin with a street value of $2.1 million.

Authorities say this is the largest heroin seizure in the history of Kane County.

Chagoya was taken to the Kane County Adult Corrections Center and charged with controlled substance trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
