Woman Arrested After Discussing Assault on Facebook

A West Side woman was arrested after assaulting another woman and bragging about it on Facebook

A West Side woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with the assault of a woman at a night club after she bragged about it on Facebook.

Ruth Ramirez, of the 3700 block of West Division Street, allegedly smashed a glass into the face of a 29-year-old woman on April 22 at The Leg Room, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Ramirez approached the victim and a friend at the club and confronted the woman, Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antoniettei said. Ramirez allegedly came up to the women again, but this time assaulted her with a glass. Ramirez left after the two were separated and the victim was taken to the hospital, where she received 32 stitches on her face.

The victim was alerted by friends that Ramirez was discussing the assault on Facebook, and she contacted the police.

Ramirez is being held on a charge of aggravated battery causing bodily harm.
