Woman Allegedly Raped By Man She Met on Internet

Cook County Sheriff's officials say a Chicago man faces several felony charges after allegedly raping a woman he met on the internet at gunpoint.

Karon Godbold, 35, is accused of using the fake online name "Maurice Jones," and communicating with an 18-year-old woman on a social media site called Tagged.

Authorities say Godbold met with the victim Monday and drove her to the Sauk Trail Woods Forest Preserve in Chicago Heights. Once there, he's accused of parking his vehicle, putting a gun to her head, and forcing her to have sex with him.

Godbold was arrested in Chicago Heights Tuesday and police say he was found with a gun.

He was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of armed habitual criminal, and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Bond was set at $250,000.
