Wisconsin Brother and Sister Kick Off Olympic Competition in Mixed Doubles Curling

Wisconsin brother and sister duo Matt and Becca Hamilton will kick off the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang this week, competing in the first-ever mixed doubles curling event.

The pair will represent the U.S. for the start of competition Thursday morning in South Korea, which will be Wednesday evening in Chicago.

The duo had a stellar start to the 2017 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships, going through the round robin stages a perfect 7-0. However, they finally faltered in the early stages of the playoffs and ultimately finished 10th, according to NBC Olympics

In 2017 they won the National Championship, and that same year Becca Hamilton was dubbed USA Curling’s Female Athlete of the Year.

The Hamiltons will compete in the very first competition of the Winter Games Wednesday against Team OAR at 6:05 p.m. CT. They will also compete in both the men’s and women’s curling competitions set to start on Feb. 14.
