White Sox Pitcher Danny Farquhar Released From Hospital

Chicago White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar has been released from the hospital weeks after he collapsed during a game against the Houston Astros, the team reported Monday.

Farquhar, who suffered a brain hemorrhage form a ruptured aneurysm during the April 20 home game, was discharged from Rush University Medical Center Monday afternoon, according to the White Sox. He is "resting at home with his family," the team said.

Farquhar's neurosurgeon, Dr. Demetrius Lopes, expects he will be able to pitch again in the future but will not medically release Farquhar to pitch in a competitive game during the 2018 season.

"Farquhar and his family have appreciated the many cards, tweets, texts and well wishes they have received from friends and fans over the past weeks," the team said in a statement. "The White Sox organization continues to wish Danny a speedy and full recovery."

Farquhar, who pitched the sixth inning of the game, suffered a brain hemorrhage in the dugout and was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Later testing revealed a ruptured aneurysm that caused his brain to bleed, the White Sox said in a statement.

Fans interested in sending “Get Well” wishes and letters of support to Farquhar should address mail to him at Guaranteed Rate Field, 333 W. 35th Street, Chicago, IL 60616.
