Boy, 14, Among 4 Shot on West Side

14-year-old boy is among 2 hurt in deadly West Side shooting

A 14-year-old boy recovered Tuesday at Lurie Children's Hospital after someone shot him in the neck on the city's West Side, police said.

Police said four people were walking down the street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood when a gunman began shooting in their direction.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Monday in the 4100 block of West Adams Street. Police said two men were killed and two others were wounded, including the 14-year-old.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed 21-year-old Christopher Banks died. The coroner has not yet released the identity of the second man killed.

The two wounded victims were taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition.

The Chicago Tribune reports the shooting happened just blocks from where someone was shot to death earlier in the day.

Police believe the shootings were gang-related and may not be directly connected to one another.
