A water main broke Thursday afternoon in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood, flooding roadways and sidewalks in the area.
Department of Water Management spokesman Tom LaPorte said a 12-inch water main broke after 3 p.m. at East Ohio Street and North McClurg Court.
It's not clear what caused the break, but water was seen gushing onto sidewalks toward business entrances. Traffic was being diverted.
LaPorte said crews must now find the source of the leak and excavate to fix it.
