Walmart Opens Store in Wrigleyville

The Walmart Express will sell groceries and health products

Walmart just spread its message of “Save Money. Live Better” to Wrigleyville.

The world’s largest retailer opened a new Walmart Express Wednesday at 3636 N. Broadway.

“I have been pleased with Walmart’s outreach into our community and the steps they have taken to identify local residents for job opportunities,” said Ald. James Cappleman, who attended the opening with Ald. Tom Tunney.

The mini-mart styled grocery store will offer health and beauty sections and a pharmacy.

The store will compete with a nearby Walgreens store and Jewel supermarket.

“We think Walmart Express can be part of the solution for local customers who want more affordable grocery options close to home,” said market manager Jack Williams.

Walmart opened its first Chicago Express store in Chatham on the South Side in June.
