Uber Chicago, the car service that offers rides via an app on your phone, is cutting in several major cities, including Chicago.
The popular service is dropping prices between 15-34 percent for UberX rides.
UberX offers rides in ordinary vehicles at prices cheaper than its higher-end SUV and town car services, and also cheaper than what cabs typically charge.
The company has come under fire recently for surge pricing, increasing the amount of fares significantly during high-demand periods of time, such as New Year's Eve.
