Fitzy Won't Run

Don't look for U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's name on a ballot -- ever.

The high-profile prosecutor said on WLS radio Friday that he has "no intention of ever running for any office."

Fitzgerald has the kind of name recognition any would-be politician would crave. He's widely known for prosecuting mobsters and corrupt politicians.

His office sent former Illinois Gov. George Ryan to prison and he's prosecuting ousted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich on corruption charges.

Fitzgerald also investigated the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

The career federal prosecutor was appointed to his post in Chicago in 2001 by President George W. Bush.
