UIC Says Employee Arrested For Having Gun At Work

Employee didn't want to leave the gun at home while the house was being remodeled

The University of Illinois at Chicago says one of its employees has been arrested for bringing an unloaded handgun to work.

UIC spokesman Mark Rosati said the employee did not want to leave the gun at home while the house was being remodeled and so brought it to work.

Rosati said another employee saw the weapon on Tuesday and called campus police.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the employee was taken into custody and that UIC police are investigating.

Rosati said the gun was in a case and there were not bullets loaded in the weapon or inside the case.
