2 in Custody in Lake View Stabbing

Two people are in custody, suspected of being involved in a stabbing during a late-night street fight in Lake View.

The 24-year-old victim was walking at 938 W. Belmont Ave. about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, when two male suspects approached him from behind and a fight erupted, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

During the brawl, the suspects stabbed the man in the back before running away, she said.

The man was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to Kubiak. He was treated for minor injuries and released, according to a statement from 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney.

Two people of interest are in custody, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
