Two Teens Shot Within Minutes on South Side

Two teens were shot early Friday morning within minutes of each other in two shootings less than a mile apart in the city's Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

Police said the first shooting took place around 12:20 a.m. in the 0-100 block of East 43rd Street at the Alice Bar-B-Que Restaurant where a 16-year-old boy was shot.

Authorities, citing preliminary information, two men entered the restaurant and opened fire, shooting the teen in the head.

He was transported to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition and no one was in custody as of early Friday morning.

About 10 minutes later, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks in the 400 block of East 45th Street.

Police said the teen was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in stable condition.

Further details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available.

Police could not say if the shootings were related.
