Two Kids Taken in Car Theft

Kids unhurt

A pair of kids, aged 1 and 4,  is safe this morning after going on a wild ride that included kidnapping, a police chase and a crash through a North Side home.

Police said they don’t believe the 19-year-old man they arrested intended to kidnap the youngsters. Witnesses said the parents were taking groceries inside their home when the suspect jumped in the vehicle and took off, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

Cops were called to investigate the kidnapping, and at around 1:20 spotted a car that fit the description at Cicero and Palmer. They turned on their lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over and the suspect fled.

Police chased the vehicle until the suspect lost control and crashed into the front porch of a home on the 5100 block of Sunnyside Avenue.

Neither of the children was hurt. The man was taken into custody.

This was the second bizarre police chase to happen in Chicagoland Thursday night.
