Two Disabled Elgin Women Attacked

Officials hope public can provide info

Elgin police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who attacked two mentally handicapped women in their home early Wednesday.

The home invasion occurred at about 4 a.m., near Maple Lane and North Jane Drive. Police have released a sketch of the suspect, who has been described as a bald Black man with a muscular build, over 6 feet tall, and wearing a white T-shirt at the time of the attack.

The victims, in their early 30s, were treated and released at a local hospital.

"These victims are mentally handicapped, which makes this crime particularly egregious," said Lt. Glenn Theriault. "We want the community to notify us immediately if they were aware of anyone in the area fitting the description at the time of the attack."

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, police have declined to release details on what was taken from the home and if the victims knew the attacker.

Anyone who has information about the attacker is encouraged to call Elgin police at 847-289-2620. People can also call anonymously to 847-695-4195 or send an anonymous text message to 847411. (Be sure to begin the text message with ELGINPD.)
