Tributes Honor Fallen Officers

Motorcyclists & Bikers Join Forces to Remember Fallen Officers

Chicago police officers killed in the line of duty were remembered at two memorial events Sunday.

About 1,000 motorcycle riders took part in the annual Area 4 Ride to Remember, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The ride began at the Harrison District Police Headquarters Saturday morning before heading to the Gold Star Families Memorial across from Soldier Field.

Organizers said detectives from the Harrison police Area started the annual event in 2005 as a fundraiser for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

In a separate event, bicyclists rode together for the Pedal for the Police ride, a tribute which also benefits the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

The bike ride is held in conjunction with a long-distance bike ride sponsored by the Illinois Concerns of Police Survivors, the Cycle Across Illinois
