Is Chicago the new Gotham City? Maybe not, but there will apparently be a lot of Batman costumes roaming the area this Halloween.
According to Google News Labs' Frightgeist website, Batman is the most popular costume in the Chicago area this year.
Frightgeist “went on a hunt to find the most popular costumes" and used the top 500 costume searches to find trends in cities across the U.S.
According to the report, Batman, Harley Quinn, a superhero, Star Wars and Minions were the top costumes searched for in the Chicago area.
But do these Google searches result in people purchasing the costumes at Chicago’s costume stores? Unsurprisingly, the answer is yes.
Chicago Costume and Fantasy Costume gave their own lists of top-selling costumes and they support Frightgeist’s findings.
Star Wars costumes, the Minions, Donald Trump as a character, Hunger Games characters, Morty from Rick and Morty the cartoon show, SNL characters Wayne and Garth, Harley Quinn and Big Hero 6 are popular costumes at Chicago Costume this year, according to Courtland Hickey.
