A Chicago firefighter is engaged to his longtime love, but not without some help from "The Today Show."
Dave Grajewski decided he wanted to pop the question to his girlfriend of two years, Katie Saul, but he wanted to make it special.
"I knew I wanted to do it in New York," Grajewski said. "I thought it would be all great to get her all dressed up and get her pampered."
Grajewski led Saul to believed they would be attending a mock banquet that was supposed to honor him and other firefighters. But when the couple walked into the banquet hall, there was a single table set up, and Grajewski immediately got down on one knee and popped the question.
The story was guaranteed a happy ending when Saul said yes.
The couple will appear on the NBC 5 News Today on Wednesday to talk about the surprise proposal.
