Tick-Tock: Ticket Amnesty Ends Saturday

Pay off parking and red-light tickets with half the penalty nears end

Going, going ...

Saturday is the deadline for the bargain deal on paying off city tickets.

Old Chicago parking and red-light tickets can be settled for a reduced rate during the amnesty period that ends this weekend.

The amnesty lets motorists pay half the late fee. So a $50 ticket with a $50 penalty can be paid off for $75.

The city has collected $2.7 million on 52,000 tickets paid through the amnesty since Dec. 1, according to the city Revenue Department. Eligible tickets are those issued before 2007.

The city's four revenue offices will be open through 3:30 or 4 p.m. Saturday to accept payments.

Payments also will be accepted online.
