Thieves Steal Emergency Lights Off Police Car

Five light bars missing in two weeks

People say there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Stealing the cherries and blueberrries from government vehicles seems like it fits into the latter.

But, according to a police internal bulletin that's what's going on in Jefferson Park.  Since January 1 emergency light bars have been stolen off five government vehicles parked there.

So far, thieves have stolen the light bars off a police car, two Chicago Fire Department vehicles, and two Illinois State Police vehicles.

To make matters worse, all of the vehicles—except for the cop car—were parked near the owners' homes at the time of the incidents. (The police car was at a repair shop.)

Chicago police don't know at this time what the thieves' motive could be.

Maybe the bandits' cars could use some new bling. Or maybe they need decorations for a dance party.

Or maybe they're just brave. Or stupid.
