The Wire: Lester, Ross Have Interesting Ride to Cubs Rally

The Chicago Cubs spent their Friday morning rolling through the streets of Chicago as they celebrated their World Series win, but four players on the team apparently got into a bit of a fracas during the festivities.

Of course, that fracas didn’t involve any fans or teammates, but instead involved wires that run across the streets that the buses were traversing during the team’s victory parade.

Cubs pitcher Jon Lester, who provided a hysterical live feed of the events of the trip, documented what happened after the bus came across the wires:

It certainly looks like David Ross (in the middle of the photo) suffered the most, with a bright red nose after the wire incident. Pitcher John Lackey also took a shot to the cheek, while Travis Wood (rocking his sleeveless camo-shirt instead of a Cubs jersey) and Lester himself took the wire to the top of the head.

If and when the players bring up the incident during their speeches, we’ll make sure to keep you posted on their condition. At least they’ll have some time to heal up before spring training begins in February.
