Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Comes to Chicago

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer hits Chicago this weekend.

Nearly 3,000 people will participate in this two-day walk, including 256 survivors.

The walk is part of an effort to fight breast cancer.  Participants will cover nearly 40 miles throughout Chicago and all of the funds raised support local research and care organizations.

This organization brings together thousands of women and men to raise awareness and funds that will help save lives, according to an Avon press release.

A new diagnosis of breast cancer occurs every three minutes, the release said.

The 2011 Chicago Avon Walk for Breast Cancer kicks off at 7:30am Saturday and ends Sunday at Solider Field.
