2 Teens Charged in Elgin Boy's Murder

15-year-old teens charged as adults

Two Elgin teenagers face first-degree murder charges in the death of a 16-year-old boy.

Ricky Moreno and Mario Williams, both 15 of Elgin, were arrested and charged Monday night as adults, police said.

Police said the teens are behind the death of Nestor Alvarado, who was shot in the chest last week inside a car in the 800 block of East Chicago in downtown Elgin.

Alvarado died shortly after the shooting at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, police said.

Elgin Chief Jeff Swoboda called the murder "senseless violence that ended the life of a 16-year-old and will dramatically change the life of the two responsible for it.”

Moreno and Williams are scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday in Rolling Meadows.
