Teens Accused of Trying to Rob Empty Dominick's ATM

Two teenagers are in police custody after police say they tried to rob an ATM, which turned out to be empty, inside a closed Dominick’s store Thursday morning in Streeterville.

The teens tried to break into an ATM machine inside the closed Dominick’s grocery at 255 E. Grand Ave. about 8 a.m., police said.

The ATM they tried to rob was empty, police said. The store, along with dozens of others in the Chicago area, closed for good last Saturday.

Police took the pair into custody after the robbery attempt and charges are pending.
