Grandmother Watches as Teen Shot and Killed

The victim was a senior in high school

A Chicago public high school student died overnight after being shot multiple times in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood while his grandmother watched.

Anthony Carter, 18, was found unresponsive by police officers on the 4000 block of West Jackson Boulevard around midnight. He had several gun shot wounds to his back, according to Police News Affairs.

The victim's grandmother, who was present at the time of the shooting, said she was bringing Carter some chips and pop when she heard the gunfire.

"They started shooting and we started running," she said.

Carter was a senior at Crane High School, according to his grandmother. Carter is the fourth grandchild she has lost to violence.

Police don't have anyone in custody this morning but continue to investigate the shooting.
